Mayor Wu has shown consistent support for Madison Park
Mayor Wu’s Campaign Literature
“For thousands of our young people, Madison Park Technical Vocational High School – the only comprehensive vocational school in the City of Boston––has made that vision a reality, opening doors to a high-paying, fulfilling career. But decades of neglect have prevented Madison Park from providing well-rounded vocational education to all students who want it. Revitalized vocational education must be a central piece of our recovery strategy to close opportunity gaps and empower our residents to shape Boston’s future.”
Mayor’s Visit to Madison Park
Since her election, Mayor Wu has visited Madison Park several times. She has announced new funding for the school, and has committed to training there to establish an electric vehicle service center for the City’s future fleet of EVs. She has toured the facility and participated in interviews there too. Her commitment has been made very clear.
New Building for Madison Park
Mayor Wu announced on Labor Day 2022 her intention to fund the construction of a brand new state of the art building to carry out Madison Park’s education mission. Since then, a significant design process has been ongoing, and in summer 2023, Mayor Wu proposed to expand Madison Park to the entire campus on Malcolm X Boulevard, by moving the O’Bryant School to a new site. This proposal is still in planning stages
